I’ve never been much of a jewellery guy. In my university days I used to walk around with some face metal in the form of an eyebrow piercing and some earrings, and I occasionally wore some sort of beaded hemp necklaces, bought from a Caribbean vendor while on spring break. Then one day I looked in the mirror and thought “What on earth am I thinking?” The day I got rid of my face metal was the day my 4-year old cousin told me that I “grew up.”
Then in 2006, I was selected to perform comedy in Montreal’s Just for Laughs festival, and after my show, two of my closest friends presented me with the Infantry Mechanical Self-winding Swiss Army watch with a black leather strap as a gift. Suddenly, I was a watch man.
Soldiers during the First World War found wristwatches to be extremely useful in the wet sloppy trenches. After the war, young men wanted to emulate those brave heroes, and the wristwatch quickly became an extremely popular accessory.
I’ve been shopping around for a new watch, and I came across one online that I’m seriously considering as my next timepiece. I stumbled across the Men’s Bulova Marine Star Chronograph Watch at My Jewelry Box.com. The white stainless steel watch weighs in at 163 grams, making it the perfect weight. Not too heavy, but heavy enough to be reminded it’s there. I love the marine blue face with the gold trim, gives the watch an elegant look. Bulova has been combining the latest technologies with established clock making expertise to producing unique and high quality watches since 1911, and I think the Marine Star Chronograph will be on my wrist as soon as possible.
