Raider Nation

Members of Raider Nation don themselves in these elaborate and frightening football-meets-Halloween costumes to root for their team. Raider Nation is the unofficial name for the fans of the Oakland Raiders, who can be found in a particular section of the Oakland Coliseum known as the “Black Hole”.

Chiefs Nation

The Kansas City Chiefs boast one of the most loyal and devoted fanbases in the NFL. Kansas City is the sixth-smallest media market with an NFL team, but they have had the second-highest attendance average over the last decade. The Chiefs averaged 77,300 fans per game from 1996 to 2006. At the end of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at home games, Chiefs fans intentionally yell “and the home of the CHIEFS!” where traditionally “the brave” is sung. Chiefs fans also make occasional use of “The War Chant” and “Tomahawk Chop” during games.

College Basket Ball: Cameron Crazies

The Cameron Crazies are the student supporters of Duke University’s basketball team, named for Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium. Over the years, Duke’s Cameron Crazies “have earned a reputation as the rowdiest, wittiest, best-organized college basketball fans in the land.”

Hockey Fans

Hockey aficionados have some strange traditions when their hockey team wins. For nearly 50 years, hockey fans in Detroit have been throwing octopi on to the ice after a big win by the Red Wings. In Montreal, when the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup, people prop themselves on tree stands, start riots in the streets, destroy local businesses, flip over police cars and set them on fire.

Football (Soccer)

Football (soccer) is the world’s most popular sport and its fans, some of the most devoted and loyal. You may hear the word hooliganism and hooligan used when referring to football fans, though hooliganism is associated with violence in sports that was rampant in the 1980s in the UK.

John Anthony Portsmouth (below) who officially changed his name to John Anthony Portsmouth Football Club Westwood in 1989 is one of the most recognizable football supporters in England.
